They wanna stand and got kicked out for doing so. Therefore they decided to stop going.

Nothing wrong with that but I'm not sure they needed a statement.

Anyway, the real bag guys are the board not the Italian chaps.

West Ham are almost universally hated and people are pissing themselves watching us struggle.

Why is this so hard to believe?

Except Everton them clubs think we're flash cockney bastards punching well above our weight and love seeing us lose as much as their local rivals. Scouse clubs think they have a working class hero type affinity with us which is just as weird and gay IMO.

im with marston, i dont think other teams/fans are overly bothered to be honest. a few jumped on the misled media bandwagon about taxpayer funded stadium, but thats about it.

Re: Statement: Italian Irons
I think most fans of other clubs don't give a shit about us either way.

I bet your average boro/sunderland/villa/everton (etc) fan cares about as much about us as I do about them.

Re: Statement: Italian Irons
I think the word "deluded" is thrown about far too much these days, but I'm really struggling to think of a more subtle yet accurate word to describe how West Ham fans think other clubs fans view them.

Most of them fucking hate us and love the fact our enormous "tax payer funded" stadium seems to be a disaster and all our success last season is looking like a flash in the pan.

"West Ham a big club LOL" is the general attitude to us being 4-0 down to West Brom despite our 70 billion capacity futuristic stadium.

So yeah, "over ambition and stupidity" is pretty consistent with how a lot of other people are viewing our current plight.

(in before "who cares what other people think we're West Ham" etc etc etc)

really? seems to me that most fans think we aren't being ambitious enough. but of course you know that that line was related to how leeds went about things, right?

"you do understand that the reason they went down the swanny so quickly was over-ambition and stupidity?"

The common consensus amongst a lot of fans of other soccer teams about West Ham is exactly the same.

Re: Statement: Italian Irons
"from Champions League semi final to irrelevance in less than five years"

and what relevance do leeds have to us? you do understand that the reason they went down the swanny so quickly was over-ambition and stupidity? those in charge of leeds mortgaged years worth of forward gate receipts to build a team for the moment and as soon as they failed to qualify for the CL one season they could no longer afford to finance the huge loans, banks then called in those loans and effectively forced the club to sell any player of worth that they had.

There are a lot of supporters on this forum who wouldn't have cared if Spurs moved into our turf... So long as we got to stay at their beloved Boleyn Ground (which could only extend up to 40k (although some idiots think that that's more than enough!)).

Strangely enough, most of the so-called supporters who fall into this bracket have no connection to east London or family ties to the area and our club at all and live in country bumpkin areas where people chew nettle leaves and chase huge fuck-off cheese rolls down hills as a hobby.

Re: Statement: Italian Irons
I haven't been to the new stadium yet so can't comment on the specific issues raised by the Italians and others.

What I would say is that the day in 2005 that London won the right to host the 2012 Olympics Games Upton Park was finished, no matter who the owners of our club might be.

The decision to put the Olympic Stadium in Stratford meant that post the Games it would either become West Ham's new home or it would go to another club, most likely Tottenham.

If Tottenham had won the bid to relocate to the OS it would have been the end of West Ham. Kids in the east end would have started wearing Tottenham shirts instead of claret and blue. Over time we would have faded away.

You only have to look at the clubs that used to be huge back in the day - Preston North End, Blackpool, Wolves, Forest - to see that nobody is safe. And look at Leeds United - from Champions League semi final to irrelevance in less than five years. They used to be the biggest club in the country in the early 70s.

It's not a proper football stadium and it's not Upton Park but it is way better than having Tottenham park their tanks on our lawn. You have to move with the times and keep upgrading - or risk destruction.

Gli Italiani are obviously proper fans and I respect their right to make a stand, but give it time. The curse of S&G and Brady - these bumbling incompetent owners we have to suffer - will be gone in a few years and we will have new owners with deep pockets.

The future of our club is going to be nothing like its past. The move to the OS has meant we are now ripe for the sort of takeover that PSG and Man City had. There are big changes ahead. Forget the teething issues with the stadium, the bigger pill to swallow is the transformation of West Ham into a title challenger with Russian/Chinese/Arab owners and totally different ethos around the club..

Almost as bad as some of the Whoicides you read. The club arn't going to give a crap if they visit or not so could have wrapped it up in a sentence "Hotpoint is shit we don't want to come anymore."
